Community wisdom, methodological excellence.
Our Approach
Our approach grows from the belief that meaningful change starts with relationships, curiosity and care. We combine thoughtful research, creative practice and grounded collaboration to shape work that is honest, rigorous and rooted in the communities we serve.
The Thinking That Guides Us
Our work is rooted in Black feminist, decolonial and emancipatory traditions that remind us knowledge is never neutral. It is shaped by power, history and who gets to speak. We create spaces where lived experience holds the same weight as academic expertise, and where vulnerability, care and curiosity are understood as strengths rather than bias. This means asking different questions, naming harm when we see it, and trusting that emotion, culture and creativity are forms of data. Our approach holds space for multiple truths and builds collective understanding that can lead to collective action. For us, research is relationship and relationship is a form of resistance
We take a simple but radical stance: impact should not be an afterthought, it should be shaped from the beginning. From our first conversation to the final output, we design every project around a central question: what change is this work meant to make, and for whom? Learning, evaluation and accountability are woven through every phase, not added at the end. By blending qualitative depth with systems thinking, we ensure community knowledge is taken seriously as evidence, strategy and a tool for transformation. For us, impact is a method, not a metric.
Our work is both visionary and practical, helping partners move from reflection to action by translating insight into strategy, narrative and policy that can shift the systems around them. We recognise that sustainable change requires both patience and precision, which is why we balance critical inquiry with pragmatic delivery. Our approach helps funders, organisations and communities build momentum, not just meaning. We do not work in abstraction, we work in motion.

How These Principles Show Up
Our approach informs every layer of what we do:
Together, we:
- In research, it means co-designing studies that are led by the people most affected.
- In learning partnerships, it means creating spaces for honest reflection and adaptive action.
- In creative storytelling, it means translating insight into visual and narrative forms that reach beyond reports.
- Each project is a practice in power-sharing – an experiment in how knowledge can be built differently and used for collective good.
- We work at the meeting point of rigour and imagination — where knowledge becomes a tool for transformation
